Signs it is time to come in.

The exhaust usually tells you it is failing before it fails completely. Listen for it.

Loud or roaring

A deeper, louder note, especially on acceleration, usually means a leak or a failed muffler or pipe.

Rattle underneath

A rattle or buzz under the car over bumps is often a loose heat shield or a broken hanger. Cheap to fix early.

Smell of exhaust

If you can smell exhaust in or around the car, do not wait. A leak that reaches the cabin is a safety issue.

How the visit works.

We put the car up and inspect the full system to locate exactly where it is failing, not just where it is loudest.

You approve the work.

Nothing happens until you say yes. We call before we begin, and again if we find something new.

Exhaust questions, answered.

Why is my car suddenly loud?

A sudden increase in noise is usually a leak or a failed muffler or pipe. In Minnesota, road salt and moisture rust exhaust components from the outside in, so a section can give out even on a well-kept car. We find where it is leaking.

Is a small exhaust leak a big deal?

It can be. A leak can let fumes reach the cabin, throw off the sensors that manage the engine, and get louder and more expensive over time. It is worth having looked at rather than living with it.

Can you repair a section instead of replacing everything?

Often, yes. If the rest of the system is solid we can replace or repair just the failed section. If corrosion is widespread, we will tell you honestly when replacing more is the better value. You decide.

Quiet it down, safely.

Tell us what you are hearing or smelling. We will get back to you during business hours to set a time. Sending a request does not reserve an appointment; we confirm every one personally.
