Synthetic oils are a good choice for high-output, turbocharged or supercharged engines, for towing (especially in hot weather), and for extreme climates. They can improve fuel economy and allow longer intervals between changes.
Watch for rough idling, hard starts, stalling, reduced fuel economy, or a check-engine light. Most modern vehicles benefit from a scheduled tune-up per the manufacturer interval.
Check your battery, tires and tread, coolant/antifreeze, wipers and washer fluid, and have your heating and defrost systems tested.
Every 5,000–7,500 miles, or at every oil change. Regular rotation evens out tread wear and extends tire life.
